TERRAIN SERVICES LTD is a Regional East
African Company which was established in Uganda in 1996 to take
advantage of opportunities arising from the Government of Uganda's
policy to privatise road rehabilitation and maintenance services
throughout the country. Terrain initially focused its commercial
activities on the rehabilitation and maintenance of gravel roads and
on providing ancillary services for the construction industry
as well as offering technical services for a variety of related
commercial activities, which include but is not limited to the
supply of equipment and materials for road works and construction
projects.
Construction within Uganda expanded rapidly
during the late 1990's and Terrain Group of Companies diversified
into other areas of building and civil construction as well as
becoming the leading supplier of generators and small plant and
equipment. Our client base increased to supplying and working with
the private sector, NGO's and Government parastatals and this
progressively resulted in increased sales and contracts to
neighbouring countries. Terrain Services Ltd joined with several
international contractors as subcontractor or joint venture partners
on larger donor funded projects in order to increase our experience
and project size which increased our capacity to carry out larger
independent contracts.
The Directors and senior management of Terrain
Services Ltd have considerable experience in general
construction within East and Central Africa prior to joining the
company and gained through working with international contractors
and consultants. We have developed in-house capacity for 'design and
build' projects through numerous contracts where clients need
turn-key solutions within agreed budgets and time lines without
having to employ the independent services of architects,
consultants, quantity surveyors and contractors. This approach has
provided Terrain Services with a wealth of experience in designing,
supplying and construction specific functional facilities for
numerous clients ranging from small health clinics in remote areas
to multi million dollar diplomatic facilities.
In order to support our operations in the
region, we have invested in equipment and transport to be self
sufficient with regional logistic and supply. We have a good core of
technical and support staff who have grown with the company as we
have expanded. We have established a good reputation within the
region which is reflected by repeat business from past clients and
suppliers and we have the support of all our financial partners.
